The largest annual flower bed in the Baltic that will delight Ventspils citizens and visitors will be opened at the intersection of Lielais Avenue and Lacplesa Street on Saturday, July 31st, at 11.00 in Ventspils opposite to the shopping centre “Tobago”. All participants who took part in achieving the Guinness record and all others are invited to attend the opening ceremony of 1500 m² large flower bed and common photographing. (more…)
Ventspils has achieved a Guinness Record by making 1,665.93 m long – the longest flower carpet in the world

The Ventspils citizens have achieved a Guinness record by making 1,665.93 m long – the longest flower carpet in the world, informed the representative of the management of the Guinness Record Mariamarta Ruano De Graham at 19.00 on the central stage in the promenade of Ostas Street and presented Aivars Lembergs, the chairman of Ventspils City

The attempt to achieve the Guinness World Record – to create the longest flower carpet in the world – will take place in Ventspils

On Saturday, 24th of July during the whole day the attempt to achieve the Guinness World Record – to create the longest flower carpet in the world to honour the 720th anniversary of the city will take place in Ventspils, on the Ostas street promenade.
The preparation for the creation of the carpet will begin already on Firday, 23rd July when volunteers will create the basis of the carpet. On the 24th of July from 10.00 to 19.00 45 volunteer teams with more than 700 participants plan to create at least 1500 metres long and 1 m wide uninterrupted flower carpet on the Ostas street promenade. To create the carpet around 80 thousand flower pots with begonias, French marigolds, alyssums, ageratums, heliotropes and other flowers will be used to create different patterns. During the creation of the flower carpet the traffic will be closed at many street sections in Ventspils

Ventspils City Municipality Authority „Komunālā pārvalde” informs, that due to the creation of the longest flower carpet in the world – the attempt to achieve the Guinness World Record, during 23rd to 27th July the following sections of the streets in Ventspils will be closed for traffic:
- Loču street from Karlīnes street to K.Valdemāra street,
- K.Valdemāra street from Loču street to Pils street,
- Ostas street from Pils street to Prāmju street.
We ask the citizens of Ventspils and city guests to follow the new road signs and plan in advance how to drive around the closed street sections.
As we already have informed before, in honour to celebrate the 720th anniversary of Ventspils during the 23rd and 24th of July on the Ostas street promenade is planned to create a 1500 m long and 1 m wide flower carpet, using around 80 thousand flower pots. The created carpet will be on show until the 27th of July, afterwards the flowers will be planted near schools and kindergartens as well as in a special big flower bed, created especially for the city anniversary.
The numbers for the voluntary teams for the attempt to achieve the Guinness World Record have been drawn

On Thursday, 15th of July, in the Ventspils Children’s City the participation numbers of the voluntary teams were for the attempt to achieve the Guinness World Record – the creation of the longest flower carpet – have been drawn.

All together for the participation in the creation of the 1500m long carpet section 45 teams with 726 participants have applied, but in total for the voluntary work 902 people have applied. (more…)
During “The Flower Night” the band „Right Said Fred” will perform in Ventspils

On the 24th of July “The Flower Night” event during which on the big stage as a special guest will perform the „Right Said Fred” band from Great Britain will take place in the “Reņķa garden” in Ventspils.
After the attempt to achieve a new Guinness World Record by creating the longest flower carpet, the festival will continue in “The Flower Night” event which will take place in the “Reņķa garden” in Ventspils. Together with the domestic groups “Pērkons” and “Rīgas viļņi” on the big stage will perform the „Right Said Fred” band from Great Britain, who have received a great admiration in Latvia. (more…)
The attempt to achieve the Guinness World Record in Ventspils will be observed by independent witnesses

The attempt to achieve the Guinness World Record – to create the longest flower carpet in the World, will take place in Ventspils very soon – on the 23rd and 24th of July. The preparations are already taking place and for the record to be accepted and approved a number of conditions need to be fulfilled, one of them is to invite the independent witnesses who are well-known and trustworthy people in society. The second rehearsal of the attempt to achieve the Guinness World Record has finished successfully

On Thursday, 1st of July in Ventspils on Ostas street promenade the second rehearsal of the attempt to achieve the Guinness World Record – the longest flower carpet in the world – took place.
The rehearsal was organised especially for the work leaders to feel and understand the specifics of laying out the flower carpet as well as to be able to take care of a team of 16 people. In order to achieve this 3 teams were created the leaders of which were teaching the potential work leaders how to organise the works and how to create the flower pattern. (more…)
The second rehearsal for the attempt to achieve the Guinness World record in Ventspils will take place

On Thursday, 1st of July, at 11.00, in Ventspils, Ostas street promenade the second rehearsal of the attempt to achieve the Guinness World record – the creation of the longest flower carpet will take place.
Unlike in the previous rehearsal, which took place on the 1st of June and during which the mechanical flower pot placement in the carpet with timing was tested, in the second rehearsal the identical flower pattern to the one in the Guinness record carpet, which will be made very soon, on the 24th of July, will be created. A 20 m long and 1m wide flower carpet will be created. During the rehearsal there will be an opportunity to work also for the voluntary groups leaders, who will be the main responsible persons in each of the carpet stages, so that the flower pattern would be created exactly as it is expected to be. The shop „Mājai un dārzam” will be selling the flower pots suitable for the Guinness record achievement

From Sunday, 13th of June A/S „Diāna” is offering to buy the flower pots of identical size and look, which are suitable for the Guinness record achievement in its „Mājai un dārzam” shops - the creation of the longest flower carpet in Ventspils.
This means that the carpet that we all make together on the 24th of July will be not only the longest and most beautiful one, it will also meet all of the requirements set by the jury. (more…)
